NOHM enters partnership with Local Business Blabers Hall Wine

A family-run vineyard in the outskirts of Coventry has launched its first wholesale partnership with a historic local venue.

Blabers Hall Wine in Fillongley has partnered with Coombe Abbey Hotel operators No Ordinary Hospitality to provide wine made from Warwickshire-grown grapes for the historic venue’s acclaimed afternoon tea.

Adele Adams moved into the 35-acre property with her husband Clarke in 2013 and the pair opened the vineyard in 2016 after deciding to use the land to create a sustainable family business.

The grapes are grown from 9,300 handplanted vines to create unique, small batch wine evoking classic English flavours using types suited to cooler climates.

The vineyard produces seven wines including three still white wines, a still rosé, a still red, sparkling white and a sparkling rosé. Its most popular wine is its medium dry white.

The partnership comes as No Ordinary Hospitality, which also runs St Mary’s Guildhall and its restaurant Tales of Tea as well as the Park Bistro in War Memorial Park, expands its local supplier network.

Adele said: “Coombe Abbey is the perfect partner for this link as the venue shares a lot of our values in aiming for high quality and in celebrating local produce – and we are really excited about the prospect of more people trying our wine.

“The land around our home requires a lot of upkeep and after we moved in we thought it would be great to find a way to put it to use to sustain us and provide for our two sons Jacob and James. We had the soil tested to see what we could grow – but we knew we needed to stand out and that’s where the idea to grow grapes came from.

“English wine was an up-and-coming market at the time and it seemed like an exciting project, so we decided to give it a go and in 2018 we had our first harvest.

“It’s brilliant to now be celebrating our first official wholesale partnership to share what we have been working towards in the last few years with even more people throughout Coventry and Warwickshire.”

A selection of Blabers Hall wines are also available to purchase at the Abbey Artisan Market.

Ron Terry, Group Operations Director at No Ordinary Hospitality, said: “Blabers Hall is a fantastic local producer which creates a high-quality product and embodies all of the values we look for in our suppliers.

“They are not just championing local produce and creating great results, they are growing everything themselves just a few miles from the hotel and we are extremely pleased to be working alongside them. We can’t wait for our guests to try their wine.”
